Improve install instructions

Stefan Lüdtke requested to merge improve_install_instructions into master

Changed the README to explain how to install directly from gitlab without building the package locally. It's no big deal but, basically, reduces the installation to a one-liner. And it was fun to play with the gitlab CI :-)
