Order of coordinates
Maybe we should think about a way to control the order of coordinates in a Dataset
, when opening it with xorca
. As illustrated in this notebook: https://git.geomar.de/jan-klaus-rieck/nb-tools/blob/master/reordering_dataset_coordinates.ipynb , the order of coordinates does influence the outcome of some operations... although I do not understand why and how exactly. The coordinates need to be ordered in a way that the 1D
-coordinates appear first, then 2D
- and then 3D
-coordinates. Well I am not completely sure about the 1D
and 2D
, but all 3D
-coordinates definitely need to appear last.
edit: For what I am trying to do in the notebook mentioned above, it seems to be important, that the mask
-variables appear last... Meaning that e3t
etc still look wrong. Maybe for every x_?
and y_?
, the first time a coordinate appears that has these dimensions plus an extra one (e.g. z_c
) does 'not work'...
Maybe one should also think about whether these 3D
-coordinates should be coordinates at all. But whether e.g. the tmask
is a coordinate-variable or a data-variable is probably more a philosophical question...
